=======================

Performing in front of a packed audience, Luke Wright’s live rendition of his poems was superb, especially:

It’s Mimms O Clock;
One Night of Spending
and Dudley Livingstone

The audience were enthusiastic and lively, never missing a joke or funny story and their participation well received and appreciated by Luke.

The show started 10 minutes later than scheduled, on Luke’s request to the Box Office clerk (I was sitting nearby watching Venus or Serena Williams playing tennis at Wimbledon, wearing what seemed to me jodhpurs or ‘daddy long pants’ - I thought the latest tennis gear motto was to wear the least possible to get ‘the best all round speed velocity across the body surface’ when playing?! Ho hum.

This 10-minute delay was to accommodate members of the audience on their way from work to the venue as he’d mention to the box office clerk, there was a delay in the transport. True enough, the theatre was packed soon there enough and the show got off to a good start with everyone in a good mood.

He mentioned Pepe the Skunk in reference to a character in one of his poems, which made me chuckle, as I’d also made reference to Pepe in one of my poems (which’ll be my next weblog post) and I’d commented previously on that same poem I’d posted on Myspace, saying, imagine being in an office of females on a hot and humid day without any air conditioning in place.

It was an incredible night and special as the recording was to be made into a Live CD record. An interesting and enjoyable night had by all.

He’s just a brilliant performer and poet and given an opportunity you should make a point of seeing him perform his poetry live on stage.
