Excellent Rendition at The Farrago Poetry Event 21 June 2007 RADA Foyer, London

One of the poets who’s been attending the Farrago Poetry event for the last 3 years has become a published poet with poetry that’s truly outstanding. I’d, however, had the impression he’d been coming to the event a lot longer - longer than the five years I’ve been attending and listening to poets extraordinaire read their amazing works out. There you have it though, nothing’s stranger than Poetry!

The picture is clear:
My reply to his ‘You’ve been following my career’,

‘I should think so’

is clear - I saw him first perform his poems at Farrago and was awe-struck. He had people queuing up to buy his books on the night John Paul promoted his first publication.

The night John Paul, emcee of Farrago Poetry, announced over the microphone:

I have something very special to tell you tonight…our very own poet, Niall Spooner-Harvey has just become a published poet…

flashbacks of Niall’s poetry performance, went through my mind’s eye and the one which came to mind almost immediately, was one of his outstanding poems:

intolerant

His brilliant rendition was awesome to listen to and to see him perform, live on stage is a ‘must’ experience - all eyes and ears were transfixed on this amazing poet figure whose voice and intonation astounded you into thinking:

This poet’s voice and stamina are just incredibly amazing.

As quoted on his website: niall spooner-harvey
‘He plays on looking, acting and being named like an over-educated, tweed-clad, well-spoken member of the middle-class moral majority whilst spewing forth disenfranchised, surrealist bile worthy of someone who REALLY HATES all of the above. His book, ‘Only Not Walking’ - mostly dealing with the kind of idiots who tell him Ataxic Cerebral Palsy doesn’t really exist - was released in July 2006 to reviews that made him really, really excited.’

===========================

The Farrago Poetry event has always featured talented poets like Fran Landesman, jazz lyricist & poetry legend. Her performance last night was no exception and listening to her sing songs she wrote was fantastic. Unfortunately, Miles (Davis) Landesman, her son couldn’t accompany her with his guitar playing - Glastonbury took preference of course - where else?!

I read my poem out as well, last night and enjoyed reading it exactly how I wanted, though the judges gave me one of the lowest marks given (umm - wasn’t impressed to say the least!)

John Paul did a fantastic job, as ever, hosting The Farrago Poetry Event - :o).
