Literature and the Arts, Music included, have always played an important part in my life, from Pre-Prep to University Days where as a child at St. Thomas More Prep, Maypen, Jamaica, the open fields were our poetical haven and where excelling in the Arts or the Sports were encouraged. Art took over my life at 8, hobbywise when my mother won 3rd prize in a Painting Competition with Eve in the Garden of Eden. That alongwith reading great literature as ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’, ‘Catcher in the Rye’,'Of Mice and Men’, JRR Tolkien’s ‘The Lord of The Rings’ and CS Lewis’ ‘Narnia’ & ‘The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe’ at an All Girls School in London, and then required to do a public exam at 15 yrs old in English Literature (helped tremendously by a tutor friend, Mr Yaffy who got me liking Vivaldi ‘The Four Seasons’) led me naturally to do an English with Writing & Publishing Degree at Middlesex University, where tutors (only the best - Oxbridge & London Post Grads) gave me a fantastic grounding in great literary works of our time. Suzanna (Gladwin) (I) greatly appreciated the crash course in Chaucerian English! Equally fantastic was the Award-Winning Playwright, Jack Rosenthal coming to our University in my Fresh(person’s?) Year and my article in the Uni Newspaper - North Circular, gave much credit to him and his works especially ‘Evacuees’, ‘Knowledge’ & ‘Yentl’.
